Why Are we wanted

It was Learning how to sew a scrunchie on my grandmothers old rattler machine when I was 8, I became hooked on creating things.

I have a love of texture and movement in fabrics while also using fabrics that speak for themselves
I lost the love for a few years when all I saw was florals, pretty and pastels with traditional blocks.

It wasn’t until my travels took me to Amish country and learnt about their traditional quilting and the fact that they always are sure to purposely make a mistake in their quilts as no one is perfect, or when I found out that the reason flour sacks in the depression started having pretty patterns printed on them was for the ladies that were creating quilts and clothes out of them, did I find my love of sewing again,

I worked out that flowers, pastels and traditional ‘pretty’ was not where I found passion

It was the left of field quilt designs, the creative prints that speak for themselves, the bright and deep colours in fabrics was where my inspiration lies , and the knowledge that no matter what mistakes I made along the way my way was valid

Fabric Cartel was created to inspire a new generation of creators, quilters, bag makers, sewing enthusiasts with the same passion for modern fabrics and left of field creations, into a thriving community of inclusive & supportive people with the access to amazing modern fabrics and tools to make things possible
